The Blue Circus after the painting of the same name by Marc Chagall

by Shareen K. Murayma

How stained and cyan’d is one’s childhood when

anticipation meets the wildest I wield the heart commanding

your attention my green my horse and I revel

under the gold sky coined a crescent moon for

change my fault leaning into a fall

a blue fish sends flowers for her arrival of the heart

tattoos trail the sides of her pink

are the last to touch the sandy arena
