pages of masculinity
by Rye Orrange
brought to my knees by the force of
vodka and desire
i am catapulted through time.
his carpeted floor feels rough beneath
my weight
it’s calloused hands mark me like the
hands that
hold me
stationed
i’m left as an object to be
desired.
what is the act of fucking without a
legacy of objectification?
the stories of masculinity find a home in
the palm of
my hand.
to be a man is to
confuse cumming with
healing
(or so i’m told)
i am draped in the cloak of
subversion
as his eyes trace my
back
and follow me through
the doorway.
Rye Orrange is a trans writer born and raised on the stolen and unceded lands of the Musqueum, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples in "Vancouver, BC." They have been writing since before they knew how to even make sense of the thoughts in their head, and consider writing to be the reason they have made it into their twenties. Rye's work has been included in a variety of zines, anthologies and digital magazines, often exploring topics of transness, mental health/addiction, and overwhelming feelings of the emo variety. He is an avid reader of books that can be described as "bleak," an enjoyer of a good coming of age film, and a relaxing day in the park.
