In the Dream
by Peter Cashorali
I dreamed I was back with my first husband in that little one bedroom over the garage. In the dream we were young men again, and arguing over a pair of new socks, because the toes and heels were gold, and each of us wanted them, had to be the one to wear them, had to win. In the dream I remembered what came later, and that nothing I did saved him. In the dream I realized it was a dream and there was only this moment with him. In the dream I let him have the socks. And I woke up.
