home
by Oumaima El Khaili
this is my design.
it’s my little house of peace.
brick by loving brick,
I assemble it.
daffodils, poppies,
a green field of wild-bred blooms,
around arranged stones,
they embellish it.
a kitchenette rug,
lie and soak under the sun.
a vision so clear,
out of Pinterest.
there’s books all around,
one cup and a single plate,
living life at ease.
I thought I would never get to it.
Oumaima El Kahili is a Moroccan aspiring poet who weaves verses as lullabies for her soul. With a deep affection for the English language and a penchant for confessional free verse, her poetic expression dances between haiku, notes app poems and the intimate prose of her journal entries.
