L Scully on Madison Murray’s MY GAPING MASSHOLE

The only thing hotter than Madison Murray is her insane ode to Massachusetts. MY GAPING MASSHOLE is a townie manifesto, a founding fathers full-spread, and a bedtime story collection for sugar daddies written with the seductive impunity of a whore-anthropologist. This book is like if John Waters produced Madame X’s biopic – it breeds hometown heroism with the disgusting, stately scum of an empire fallen. Murray knows New England like the back of her hand(job), she drowns shame in a prophetic map of the North Shore. Simply put, the book is for anyone who drools at verisimilitude, has fucked before, or aspires to someday. Murray stylistically resembles if Lana Del Rey grew up in Emily Dickinson’s house and watched pilgrim porn from the window. The collection is simultaneously a commentary on the randomness of desire and an answer to the age-old question, What would Dunkin Donuts look like as an OnlyFans model? So profane it’s almost Biblical. I feel like I might get sued for saying this, but MY GAPING MASSHOLE is one of the most exciting books I’ve ever read.
