Stone of Madness Press 5K Competition
In honor of a pretty amazing milestone (surpassing 5,000 followers!) we’re happy to announce our first-ever competition. We’re looking, as usual, for writing across and against genre, by Mad/disabled/neurodivergent and/or queer/trans writers. All experience levels are welcome and encouraged to submit.
In order to pay our winner and runners-up, we’ve instituted a $5 entry fee. 100% of entry fees will go toward paying the contest winners. Our first place selection will receive 50% of the sum of all entry fees, and two runners-up will each receive 25%.
If the $5 fee poses a hardship for you, please email us; we will have a limited number of free submission slots available. For those who can afford it, we strongly encourage you to include a donation alongside your entry fee to help ensure that low-income writers also have the opportunity to submit.
The winner and two finalists will receive publication in issue 17 (April 15). All entries will be considered for publication.
The nitty-gritty:
1 submission per person.
Your submission packet can be any genre/mix of genres, so long as it totals five pages or fewer. We will not read past the fifth page.
You may leave identifying information on your submission if you wish.
Please include applicable content warnings.
In your submission email, please include a screenshot of your payment receipt.
Include CONTEST ENTRY in the subject line of your email.
The submission period for this contest will run Feb. 1, 2022 - Feb 28, 2022. Only contest entries will be accepted during this period. Submissions without CONTEST ENTRY in the subject line will be deleted unread.
